however long the light may last

I have settled into the idea of there being power in delicacy.

So much of the physical scale of the media landscape calls for being louder and bigger,
and it took time for me to recognize the boldness in something small, packable;
a great view intimately scaled.

Most of the time when I go back to the source for inspiration
Pulling painting and sketches from between the leafs of my journal,
studying other artists in old books and textbooks,
in color choices and brush strokes

I can revisit it with a feeling of tenderness, which surprised me,
given my penchant for in-the-moment choices,
physically moving until I find the purpose in those first views

I have discovered purpose working toward small vies of something “better,”

The pace set by looking
seeking
living,

however long the light may last.
